Center for Civic Engagement

Printer-friendly version

students paintingThe Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) provides a variety of meaningful ways to get involved in making a positive difference in your community within and beyond campus. We help you identify or affirm what you are most passionate about and then translate this passion into action.

The Center works together with the community and faculty members to create opportunities to identify and address community challenges together- here in Alfred, regionally, nationally, and globally. Regardless of your major, interests, and background, you will find opportunity to bring your learning to life in service to others.

Examples of civic engagement include day of service initiatives such as Celebrate Service Celebrate Allegany each October and Spring Into Action each spring. Students travel to Louisiana and Alabama to perform service work for communities as part of the Semester in the South program. During the 2014-2015 academic year, students performed 80,000 hours of community service.

Get involved through volunteerism, community projects, cultural immersion, advocacy, and political involvement. Develop into a leader equipped to make a positive difference in the world.

Learn more by visiting our Facebook, Twitter, or PioneerLink pages. Email civicengagement@alfredstate.edu to learn more or to share about an upcoming community opportunity.
