College FarmDeciding on a career path is tough. Don’t sweat it! Join us this summer for a four-day, fun-packed career exploration adventure with the industry experts at Alfred State. From nursing to heavy equipment to computer technology—our faculty will give you a first-hand look at many exciting fields, while our admissions representatives will be on hand to answer your questions and let you in on all the tips and tricks you need to be a competitive college applicant.

College Farm & Healthcare Day

Take a day and visit the college farm, where you’ll learn about our innovative organic and conventional dairy herds, alpacas, chickens, horses, and farm management. Want to explore the cutting edge of the medical field? Spend your time with trained nurses learning about safety, immobilization, orthopedic injury, and even how to treat open wounds.

Does the culinary world get your blood pumping? You’ll spend part of the day with our talented chefs, learning cooking, catering, serving, and foodie techniques only the pros know. Experience the culinary world up close and personal as you prepare—and eat—a delectable lunch. If you’re the hands-on type, you’ll also love this opportunity to work with Alfred State Building Trades faculty learning about tool safety and completing your own boomerang project.

Come build your own rocket car and race it with our experts. For those who prefer the big rigs, our Heavy Equipment Operations pros will teach you about safety while you play backhoe games and operate simulators. Ever play excavator basketball? Here’s your chance!

Motorsport Trades studentsThis jam-packed day includes web design and computer technologies, industries expected to grow some 40 percent in employment by 2020. Learn about high-tech web design, site development, content development, and web programming.Spend your lunch in a Q&A with our Admissions gurus, where you’ll have time to ask questions and get information on the application process. You’ll also get a chance to speak with our University Police, who will reveal what it takes to make it in the field of criminal justice—from education to background checks to forensics.This day will also include an informational session with Career Services and a residence hall tour.
