Jerome and Jablonski Named Athletes of the Week

Volleyball teammates Jenni Jerome (Syracuse/Westhill) and Shannon Jablonski (Cheektowaga) have been named the Alfred State College athletes of the week.

The Lady Pioneers volleyball team was 8-0 this week including 7-0 while winning the Onondaga CC Tournament.  They picked up a 3-1 win over Monroe CC on Tuesday and then downed every opponent 2-0 at the OCC Tournament (Mohawk Valley CC, Erie CC, Fulton Montgomery CC, Onondaga CC (twice), SUNY Delhi, and Jamestown CC).  A-State is currently ranked #9 in the NJCAA Division III poll and have a 17-2 overall record.

Jerome, who was also named the Region III Female Athlete of the Week, registered 69 kills (.462 hitting percentage) for the week.  She also contributed 32 digs and 12 blocks.  For her solid play in her return to her hometown, Jerome was named the MVP of the OCC Tournament.

Jablonski was also solid all week for the Lady Pioneers.  She recorded 59 kills, 48 digs, and 30 service aces during the week.  Her play at the OCC Tournament earned her a spot on the All-Tournament team.  In a pool play match vs. Fulton Montgomery CC, Jablonski recorded 10 service aces.
