Orientation 2007Alfred State College
welcomed hundreds of students to campus this month for their initial
indoctrination to college life through its annual orientation program.

Entering students and their families attended
informative and interactive programs throughout the day and had their questions
answered on items such as registration, financial aid, and housing;
additionally, they toured residence halls. Orientation programs offer entering
students a head start on meeting key people in their academic areas, recognizing
the academic requirements of their curriculums, and getting to know the
campus. It also offers them the
opportunity to meet new friends and participate in activities before classes
start which helps make the transition between high school and college smoother. Parents were afforded the chance to talk with
some of ASC's administrators about what to expect in the transition and first
semester. Beyond the critical information conveyed, students were welcomed as
members of the campus community. For students attending classes on the Alfred
Campus (Management & Engineering Technology and Arts & Sciences), one
of the main components of the day was scheduling their fall semester classes. For
students attending classes on the Applied Technology Campus, a session on the
Wellsville Campus with the academic dean and Student Services personnel as well
as an opportunity to see various tool vendors was also on tap. ASC's Orientation program is an integral part
of the process for students preparing for a successful college experience. Pictured

entering students to "hit the ground running" for their collegiate
experience.
