Dusty Marshall (Newfield) had a huge game as Alfred State downed Jefferson CC 66-53 to advance to the Alfred State College Tournament finals.  The Pioneers (7-3) will meet Rockland CC in the finals at 1 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.

Dusty Marshall (Newfield) had a huge game as Alfred State downed Jefferson CC 66-53 to advance to the Alfred State College Tournament finals.  The Pioneers (7-3) will meet Rockland CC in the finals at 1 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. 

Marshall was 6 for 12 from the field and 7 for 8 from the foul line to lead all scorers with 20 points.  He added 11 boards, seven assists, and two steals.

Travis Brannen (Elmira Free) finished with 12 points while Fran Lantigua (Jamestown) added 10 points and seven boards.  Jimmie Dillard (Gates Chili) added eight points while Jerome Hall (Cicero North Syracuse) chipped in seven points off the bench.  The Blue and Gold shot 42.4% from the field, 12.5% from three, and 78.9% from the charity stripe.

Chris Noel led Jefferson with 19 points while Sivon John finished with 16 points and eight rebounds.  JCC shot 33.3% from the field on the game, 9.1% from three, and 56.3% from the foul line.

ASC led 25-23 at halftime but it wasn't until midway through the 2nd half when they pushed the lead into double figures.

In the other first round match-up Rockland rallied from a four point halftime deficit to down Dean.  Anthony Ford led the Hawks with 22 points and 11 boards while Chrisian Clemente connected on 12 points.  Jimmy Chaudry led Dean with 27 while Wilson Pilarte finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds.

Tomorrow's schedule has been pushed up one hour due to inclement weather in the forecast.  Dean will take on Jefferson at 11 a.m. while Alfred and Rockland will battle at 1 p.m.

The championship match-up between Alfred and Rockland will be a rematch of the season opener for both teams.  ASC downed RCC 90-70 on November 3 at the Monroe CC Classic.
