Ruthanne AshworthThe Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc., a private foundation representing faculty, staff, and friends of Alfred State, has welcomed a new board member, Ruthanne Ashworth, of Hornell.

An assistant professor in the Nursing Department, Ashworth joined the college in January 2017. She received an associate degree in nursing from Alfred State, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from SUNY Brockport, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Binghamton University.

In addition to her teaching and advising duties at the college, Ashworth continues to work per diem as a nurse practitioner for Regional Gastroenterology Inc. in Lancaster, PA, where she has been employed for the last 15 years. She is also a member of Alfred State’s Senate Assessment and General Education Committee, and its Budget and Planning Committee.

Outside of the college, Ashworth is a member of the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the National League for Nurses, a prior member of the St. Leo the Great School Board of Education, and a past member of St. Philip Apostle Church, where she served as a religious educator and Eucharistic minister prior to relocating to New York in January 2017.

She is the parent of one daughter, Mary.
