The lone touchdown drive was fueled by three huge plays. Reggie Corley (Elmira Free) connected with Anthony Bright (Philadelphia, PA) on a 43-yard pass play, Corley converted a 4th and 10 with a 15-yard quarterback scramble, and Makell carried half the Knight defense in the endzone with him to score the game-winner.
The Knights had one last chance to re-capture the lead but the drive stalled when Ricky DeJesus (Englewood, NJ) picked off a 4th down pass at the Pioneers own four yard line with under two minutes remaining in the game.
The only scoring in the 1st half came with just 1:26 remaining in the 2nd quarter when DeJesus brought down the Knight running back for a safety.
Globe Tech's lone points of the game came with 6:17 remaining in the 3rd quarter when David Dooner connected on a 35-yard field goal to cap a 12 play drive that was fueled by three Pioneer penalties.
Makell finished the day with 69 yards on 20 carries, Corley was 6 for 15 for 75 yards, and Bright caught five passes for 95 yards.
Jaheed Mayers rushed for 50 yards on 19 carries while Chris Anderson passed for 85 yards.
Sir Aaron Taylor (Westchester) led the blue & gold with nine tackles and a forced fumble. Wendell Williamson (New Haven, CT) finished with eight tackles while Kyle Ricks (Alexandria, VA) had eight tackles (5 for a loss). Chadd Parker (Erie, PA) and Robert Edmonds (Washington, DC) both finished with six tackles.
The Pioneers accumulated 159 yards (44 rushing and 115 passing) while the Knights finished with 128 yards (43 yards and 85 passing).
Alfred State, 3-1 on the season, returns to action on Friday when they travel to Ithaca to take on the Cornell University JV squad.
