Pi Rho Zeta’s mission is to dedicate every asset at its disposal to making not only the community around us a better place but also by assisting those in need in various endeavors and projects. This initiative has stemmed from the main challenge of a blood shortage in the United States. There is a massive amount of blood needed for patients every day, and we work with a vast amount of groups to combat this challenge and the challenge of convincing people that they really are making a difference by giving up a half an hour of their lives and a pint of their blood.
The vision of the Pi Rho Zeta fraternity is to work to raise awareness of the blood shortages, create life-long donors, and to contribute to there no longer being a critical shortage of blood for those in need.
Pi Rho Zeta has worked with the community for almost 25 years to make a difference for the better by volunteering at campus events, food drives, local clean-ups, working with the Adopt-a-Highway program in Wellsville, the Autism Walk, and Take Back the Night. The fraternity’s main passion is partnering with the American Red Cross to host blood drives on campus. They have been running this event since 2008 and have come a long way with the progress of this program since then. They host five blood drives each year on campus and plan to increase the number of units donated from 87 units to 130 units. (The record since 2008 has been 120 units.)
