Students who have been conditionally accepted to Alfred State based on completing an Introductory Chemistry, Intermediate Algebra, and/or Essentials of Anatomy & Physiology course before the next semester begins can take these courses online through the Center for Community Education and Training.
Courses are offered on an ongoing basis. Students can register and start whenever they wish and can work at their own pace. Progress is monitored and grades are communicated with the Admissions Office upon completion of the course.
Successful completion of these courses with a C or better will allow the conditionally accepted student to be officially accepted into the college, but it does not dictate what math/science courses will be needed throughout the student’s course of study at Alfred State. The student still must go through the math/science department’s placement procedures.
Note: These courses are non-refundable once the registration fee is paid. Also, note that financial aid cannot be applied to these courses.

Collaborative High School Programs
Alfred State encourages collaboration with high schools to deliver quality collegiate courses to interested and qualified secondary students. Alfred State is committed to meeting this need as an integral part of the SUNY Public Education Agenda, which is intended to help raise academic standards and make it possible for more students to meet those standards.
There are two methods for delivering college courses to high school students:
- Alfred State approves a high school teacher to offer college credit-bearing course work to secondary students in a high school.
- High school students come to the Alfred State campus to take a college course or enroll in an online course offered directly by Alfred State.
Alfred State encourages the expanded offering of quality college-level course work to qualified high school students in order to enhance student learning in high school and better prepare more students for the transition into the freshman year of college.
